hey guys,it’s me – lyonel! today i want to show you how this series, with the ground fog, was created. enjoy! as you know fog is my most favorite element. i love using it in a set or to create atmosphere. but in this shooting today, fog will be the only element we’re going to use. it’s going to be a (semi) nude shooting where our models will be “dressed” with fog patches. today we have three models.first kim nguyen, then viola julia von hoesslin and pj. the background is completely dark, we used a black background reel. but why? when we work with fog, then the fog will be glared by the light and when fog shines it automatically gets brighter or white.

so white in front of a white background doesn’t really work. when we have a black background then we can see all the fog patches perfectly. following this, a black background is very important today. we positioned the models on the floor and used the floor fog machine. we let the fog flow towards the models. because the fog is colder it stays on the floor, but as soon as it touches the warmer bodies of the models, it warms itself so much that it wanders up. that was the moment i wanted to catch, when the fog runs up the models. as light we only used a beauty dish with grid from the front and a striplight with grid from behind. it’s important that the striplight will be positioned slightly behind the model, because the fog should always be glared slightly from behind so it comes into its own. we’re by the way also just using a grid on the light former in this video. you can see perfectly what this light does; it creates dramatic shadows and you can also see on my throat that there is a shadow down here.

playing with shadow and light is very important for me, especially if we have a set that is held low-key like this one. the models oiled themselves to emphasize the high-contrast look of the pictures. we used customary baby oil. why do we use oil? the contrast will be greater and shiny patches will form on the skin and pj’s muscles will appear more toned. body shapes will be more defined with the oil and the shiny look with the dull fog was what i wanted to have as an optic mix in the photos. wrap- up what we need for such a shooting: 1. a fog machine in this case we used a floor fog machine, but you can also use a normal small one and spray the models, but the floor machine creates different effects. 2. fitting modelsa nude shooting needs trust, that’s why you should cast models that feel comfortable so you are able to easily work with them. 3. a dark background the fog will best be seen when the background is dark. it’s easier for the models to get into role, when the atmosphere is fitting. i like to play epic background music during the shooting, but when you’re on set, the music plays and the fog is wandering up, that’s just cool.

4, the reason why i like to work with fog, which is also the most important reason, why i love fog so much, is the atmosphere that fog creates on set. it’s easier for the models to get into role, when the atmosphere is fitting. i like to play epic background music during the shooting, but when you’re on set, the music plays and the fog is wandering up, that’s just cool. that’s an awesome moment and you know my personal motto: “don’t only capture that moment, create it.” i hope you enjoyed this video and i could motivate you to work with fog. if you have more questions you can ask me down in the comments, i will gladly answer them. otherwise i’ll be happy if you subscribe or give me a thumbs up and we see us the next time! bye bye!
